Engineered wood flooring offers a perfect balance of aesthetics and practicality. While it features a top layer of real hardwood, beneath this lies several layers of high-quality plywood. This multi-layer construction provides enhanced stability, reducing concerns about warping or swelling due to temperature or humidity changes. Plus, engineered wood can also be sanded and refinished, depending on the thickness of the top layer.
- Prefinished hardwood flooring: Prefinished hardwood floors come ready for installation with the stain and finish already applied. Thanks to industrial-grade sealers applied under controlled factory conditions, they offer the advantage of a quicker, less messy installation process and a more consistent and durable finish.
- Unfinished hardwood flooring: Unfinished hardwood flooring, on the other hand, is finished on-site after installation. This option allows for custom staining and finishing, enabling you to achieve a seamlessly matched floor or a uniquely personalized look. While the process may take longer and involve more clean-up, the result can be an exquisite and tailored finish that reflects your individual style.

Tips for Choosing Your Perfect Hardwood:What level of the home will the wood be placed in? If you want to do the basement, or anything below ground level, you will need to go with an Engineered Wood. Engineered Wood is 100% natural wood that is sliced thinly into several cross sections. These thin pieces of natural wood are laid at a 90 degree angle from the previous piece. This assures the customer that once the wood is laid, it will not be able to expand and contract with the changes in moisture most commonly associated with basements and spaces below ground level.
Next, you need to take into consideration what type of wear do you want to see on your floor? Some Woods are very soft and will dent and scratch easily. If you are looking for a more durable wood that is more resistant to animal nails, stiletto heels, or general wear and tear you will want a harder wood.
Lastly, you will want to look for the type of wood construction that best suits your tastes. There are generally four types to chose from, and we have a large sampling of each one. They include: 3/4 Solid Hardwood Flooring (Unfinished or Pre-finished), Engineered Wood (Unfinished or Pre-finished), Longstrip Wood Planks (Pre-finished) or Parquet Tiles.
